About Us

Natural Flare was formed in February 2007, but is the result of a much longer passion for natural products and the elimination of artificial and petroleum products from the home.
Initially we started with an idea to meet a need - Start a fire in the fireplace or barbeque without using lighter fluid, the petroleum based lighter "tabs", or newspaper - all of which are messy, and when burned release an acrid or chemical smell.

As the idea developed and a formula arose, we found that our all natural product burned cleaner with no foul odor, lit instantly, and burned hot and long.  We’d found a winner!
With the success of the fire starters, we found another opportunity to address another passionate issue - while candles add such warmth and character to any setting, most candles today either smell like petroleum (from the paraffin wax) if they are unscented, or have an artificial scent that might smell pleasant at first but affects allergies, headaches, etc.

We found that applying the same all natural principals to candles the way we did to fire starters, we were able to create all-natural scented and unscented candles that anecdotally have shown to be much better for allergy sufferers (we unfortunately do not have the means to conduct thorough medical research to support this information).  The scents are 100% natural essential oils and absolutes.

The all natural candles in and of themselves were great... though were always white or off-white due to commercially available dyes being derived from petroleum.  However, we wanted to challenge the limitation and provide consumers with an all natural candle that has all of the choices of color and scent that their less than all natural counterparts provide.  We tested and toiled and found a way to impart color in candles using plant-based pigments.  Today we are proud to say that we provide the premiere all-natural colored, scented candle company.
